The short version
Zivobooks uses only the cookies it needs to sign you in, keep you signed in and protect your forms from forgery. We don’t use advertising cookies, we don’t use cross-site tracking, and we don’t sell anything about your browsing to anyone. Because these cookies are strictly necessary, we don’t show a cookie banner asking for consent.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser so it can remember something between pages, for example that you’ve signed in.
The cookies we use
| Name | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
zivo_books_session | Keeps you signed in as you move between pages, and remembers temporary things like a message to show after you save. | Until you sign out, or 120 minutes of inactivity |
XSRF-TOKEN | Protects your forms against cross-site request forgery, a type of attack where another site tries to act as you. | Same as the session |
remember_web_… | Only set if you tick “Keep me signed in on this device”, so you don’t need to sign in each visit. | Until you sign out, or about 5 years |
All of these are first-party cookies set by Zivobooks itself, and are sent only over encrypted connections in production.
Third-party pages
When you or your customers pay through Paystack, PayFast, Ozow or Paynow, you are taken to that provider’s own page, which may set its own cookies under its own policy. The same applies when you connect an integration such as Xero or QuickBooks and sign in on their site.
Controlling cookies
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block the cookies above, you won’t be able to sign in to Zivobooks, because they are what keeps you signed in securely.
Changes
If we ever add a cookie that isn’t strictly necessary, such as for analytics, we’ll update this page first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
